Janmashtami or Krishnastami is considered as the birthday of Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, have been born on this auspicious day. As per the myth, Lord Krishna appeared in this world on the 8th day of Krishna Pakshya in the month of Shravana around midnight to terminate the devil King Kansha. This year, according to Gregorian calendar Krishnashtami or Janmashtami will take place on August 26, 2024.

Raksha Bandhan – The Pious Bond of Faith

Raksha bandhan, the pious ritual of brothers and sisters, fall in the full moon in August every year. Apparently it is a decorative string that looks beautiful when it is tied on the wrist. The decorative dial tied with satin thread is actually a symbol of the love, respect, faith and dedication of the bond of sister and brothers. Rakhis are generally made on the day of festival itself. Generally sisters and brothers start a day with bathing in fresh water and adorn themselves in new clothes.
