The day begins with worshippers going to the river and taking a ritualistic bath or “Nadi Snaan.” People pray to Lord Shiva and observe fast for the whole day. Furthermore, there are traditions like performing Rudra Abhishekam of the three-eyed deity. One has to bathe him in milk as well as honey. This day is extremely auspicious for observing the Satya Narayana Swami Vrat.
