Indian tradition and culture has always placed ‘Guru’ or ‘the teacher’ in the most revered position. As our scriptures read :-

“GururBrahma GururVishnu GururDevo Maheshwaraha ;
Guru Saakshaat ParaBrahma Tasmai Sri Gurave Namaha”

(Translated, this signifies Guru as the Creator, Guru as the Preserver and Guru as the Destroyer. Guru is also the absolute and ultimate Lord himself. Salutations to that!)
