In my previous post, we set on a holy voyage discussing the mythological story behind the shrines known as the Shakti Peeths. Earlier we revisited the Vimala Temple, where the navel of Sati Devi, the Adi Shakti, one of the forms of Ma Durga fell. The occurrence of Vishnu’s Chakra was intended to stop Shiva from doing the Tandav, resulting to the burnt corpse of Sati falling on the ground. Today’s post will further continue to explore another important temple located in Orissa. After Vimala Devi, it is the Tara Tarani, regarded to be the oldest pilgrimage for the Tantra Shadak.
About the Shakti Peetha:
Worshipping of Shakti in India predates to the age of antiquity. The Tantric Literature as well as, the Puranic history, found to represent Shakti relating to a powerful mother. The temple has Goddess Tara Tarini acting as the Ishta-Devi or presiding officer in around the residents of South Orissa. Placing The Deity on The Hilltop:
